original vegetation cover .In the face of these changes, the wetlands have been severely lost and degraded; replaced by activities which still fail to entirely satisfy the needs of the local population. Memories of local names, folktales, traditional values, raw materials, animal and bird species once associated to the wetlands are now far from the imagination of the young generation in this area. Yet, nothing is being done to reverse the situation which keeps worsening with the rise in population, farm lands, rice fields and zones of habitation.

Against these issues, this research will be articulated around the principle question as follows;
“What factors have led to the degradation of wetlands in Ndop Central Subdivision and what are the environmental and socio-economic implications”.
Secondary questions in this research are as follows:
- At what rate have wetlands been degraded from Ndop Central Subdivision and what factors can be considered responsible?
- What environmental and ecological implications can be associated to wetland degradation in Ndop Central Subdivision?
- What are the socio-economic implications of wetland degradation from this area?
- What alternative strategy can be put in place to revert wetland degradation from Ndop Central Subdivision?
