tree and grass species. The south western extreme of the transect is an area of Bambalang in which there is once more an extension of wetland prairies.
It is important to note here that the photos that accompany the transect stand out as indicators of what had existed in the area. Some of these relics are sacred forests and/or shrines which have been protected by a number of local laws, believe and/or taboos. However, since these relics continue to exist, it shows that the slight changes in the physical milieu did not lead to a change in the nature of wetlands. The chances are higher that anthropogenic are responsible for the changes in this area. The progressive intensification of these activities will be seen through diachronic analysis in the following section.
2.1.1.1 Analysis of land use from aerial photos of 1963:
From the above background, analyses were made on aerial photographs of 1963 which cover the whole zone. From these analysis, the following information was obtained about wetlands; ( see table 6)
